Hi, my name is Maggie Russell and here is my (abbreviated) story.

In the late summer of 2013, after working an assortment of jobs unrelated to art, a cosmic reset button of sorts went off (I had a nervous breakdown).  I moved out of my apartment, in with my parents and at their behest, found a studio to rent.  Because I was jobless and in search of roots for my uprooted soul (re: cosmic reset), I made art like it was my job, said "yes" to every opportunity that came my way and eighteen months later art making had become my job.  It's been eight years and I've lost count of the blessings.

I live and work in Midtown Memphis, TN.  I hold a BA from Hendrix College (2008) and an MFA from The Memphis College of Art (2011).  My work can be found in public and private collections across the United States including Saint Jude Children's Hospital, Southside Gallery in Oxford, MS, and Cooper and Ellen Manning's home in New Orleans, LA.
